Set your expectations that you and your family will not be able to use them until after the new roof is finished. You may also need to clear items in the attic if they will get in the way of roof installation.
Staying at home during roof installation is not a good idea. All the noise, dust and the installers going back and forth would be stressful to your family, particularly to your kids and pets. If you work from home, you probably won’t be able to concentrate. Once you have confirmed the roof installation date, arrange temporary accommodations, be it at a relative’s or at a nearby hotel.
